Fall is here, which means fall-flavored treats! Your furry friend is an important member of your family which means they deserve homemade treats too. Create these easy home-recipes for two paws up from your puppers!
- 4 cups rolled oats, or as needed
- 1 medium apple, cored and grated
- 1 egg
- 1 cup canned pumpkin
- ¼ cup rolled oats
-
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Place 4 cups of oatmeal in the bowl of a food processor; pulse until finely ground. Transfer to a mixing bowl.
-
Stir in grated apple. Mix in canned pumpkin and egg until well combined; mixture will be thick and slightly sticky.
-
Roll dough on a surface sprinkled with remaining 1/4 cup oats to a 1/2-inch thickness. Cut shapes with a cookie cutter and transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
-
Bake in the preheated oven until crisp and golden, 12 to 15 minutes. Remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Large sweet potatoes
- Sharp knife
- Cutting Board
- Baking Sheets
- Aid of your choosing for greasing the pans
- Oven
-
Preheat oven to lowest setting.
-
Slice one top off sweet potatoes to make for easier balancing when slicing. Carefully cut thick lengthwise slices of the sweet potato using a sharp knife, about 1/3 inch thick for larger chews.
-
Grease you baking sheets and arrange slices on flat surface of pans. Place pans on top racks inside oven and let them dehydrate for about 4 hours.
-
We let ours slowly cook and dehydrate over a period of about 8 hours, give or take. The higher your heat setting, the less amount of time you will need, though the lower the setting and longer the time, the better the overall outcome.
This same process could translate over to other fruits and vegetables like apples, bananas, and more.
-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with a nonstick baking mat or parchment paper; set aside.
-
In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients and about 3 tablespoons water to form a dough. Roll out mixture between two sheets of plastic wrap to 1/4-inch thick; remove plastic wrap and cut out biscuits with a 3 1/2-inch bone-shaped cookie cutter. Reroll scraps and continue cutting out biscuits.
-
Space biscuits 1 inch apart on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 30 minutes until nicely browned and firm.
-
Transfer biscuits to a wire rack. Turn off oven and place biscuits on wire rack in oven overnight. Remove from oven and store in an airtight container up to 2 weeks.
Enjoy creating these memories with your fur family and enjoy watching them chow down! Don't forget to share with us @sassywoof on Instagram so we can get in on the fun too! Happy Fall!
