Food to Avoid & Share: Thanksgiving Edition

Food to Avoid & Share: Thanksgiving Edition

Happy Thanksgiving Sassy Woofers! Another year of pawesome holiday foods and festive joy. We wanted to take the time to list out some foods your dogs should and shouldn’t eat to avoid tummy aches this year. We know how hard it is to look away from those sweet puppy eyes under the table, but being aware of what is dangerous for your dog is important.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, poultry bones could damage your pet’s digestive tract and fatty foods are hard for animals to digest. Along with fatty foods, salty or anything made with raisins, grapes, or other known dog toxins should stay off your best furriend’s plate!

If you decide to share food with your pup, it is best to give them whole foods that aren’t mixed in with spices and other ingredients to keep them safe. Also beware of scraps and trashcans after the Thanksgiving meal! Remember that a dog’s sense of smell is 10,000 to 100,000 times more acute than a human. They will go searching for some delicious leftovers if you leave scraps unattended and trash lids open.
