Can you think of a better way to beat the summer heat than to have an ice cream party with your pup? Neither can we! We have the paw-fect project for you and your furry friends to create the ultimate summertime treat! Check out how we make ice cream using yogurt and your pup’s favorite treats below. We even have a few flavors crafted by the Sassy Woof office dogs themselves!

Supplies needed:

  • Bowl for Mixing
  • Spatula
  • Plain, Non-Fat Greek Yogurt
  • Resealable Freezer-Safe Container or Silicone Molds
  • Your Pup's Favorite Fruits, Veggies, and other Treats!
    • Suggestions Include: Peanut Butter, Applesauce, Pumpkin Puree, Treats, Banana, Bacon, Honey, Carrot, Bone Broth, and More! See our office dog’s favorite recipes below!

* Please double check any allergies or dietary needs with your vet if you are unsure of what to add to your pup’s frozen treat! We want to make sure they have a great time enjoying a special treat with you and no one ends up with an unhappy tummy!

Also, don’t forget to serve in moderation! These recipes make enough to enjoy over multiple servings, or share with your furiends!

Step 1

Scoop 1 cup of plain greek yogurt into your mixing bowl.

Step 2

Add your desired mix-ins! When choosing ingredients, make sure you choose no sugar added, plain, and dog-safe options! Some common things to look for are xylitol-free peanut butter, no sugar added applesauce, and 100% pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling).

This is where you can get creative! Crumble up some of your pups favorite treats for a crunchy surprise. Mash up some bananas or add other fruits and vegetables as a great source of vitamins and fiber. Make sure that whatever you add is a good chewable size for your pup!

Gently fold in any peanut butter, applesauce, or other spreadable ingredients. You can add as many or as few items as you want and make this completely personalized to your pup’s taste!

Step 3

Gently scoop the yogurt and treat mixture into your freezer-safe container.

You can use a freezer-safe tub, like a reusable ice cream container, to scoop your ice cream from, a freezer-safe bowl with a lid, or you can even use silicone molds to make bite-sized frozen treats to quickly grab.

Step 4

Put your container in the freezer for 8-12 hours. We want to make sure this is fully frozen before serving it!

Step 5

Scoop into a dog safe bowl or pop the treats out of the mold and enjoy!

We recommend only storing for up to 2 weeks in your freezer (if it lasts that long!)
