This recipe not only has super yummy soft-baked cookies, but dog friendly icing as well! This dog-friendly icing will harden after it has been piped onto the cookie and that makes it great for adding details when decorating. We used it to give faces to pumpkin-shaped cookies, make our ghost cookies say "BOO!", and even covered some cookies with it so we could add some festive sprinkles. Be sure to turn on your favorite spooky movie for decorating time with your pup!

Step 1
Preheat oven to 325 °F and line a baking pan with parchment paper
Step 2
Mix together Egg, Milk (or water!), Honey, Peanut Butter, and Pumpkin Puree until smooth.
Step 3
In a separate bowl, mix the All Purpose Flour, Whole Wheat Flour, Baking Powder, and Cinnamon. Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients by mixing a little at a time.
SW Tip: The dough should stitch together, but not stick to your hands! If it is too sticky, add a little more flour. If it is too crumbly, add a bit of water.
Step 4
Roll out the dough to be ½in thick and use cookie cutters to create your shapes! Repeat until all dough has been used and all treats have been cut out
Step 5
Place cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes. Flip cookies and continue baking for 15 minutes (35 minutes of total cook time!). Once baked, place on a cooling rack.
Step 6
While cookies are cooling, make the icing. Mix 1-2 tablespoons of water at a time until the desired consistency has been achieved. It should be similar to watery toothpaste! Add in the honey to finish the icing!
Step 7
Once the cookies are fully cooled, put the icing in a piping bag for decorating. Create spooky designs on your cookies!
SW Tip: You can also dip the cookies in melted yogurt chips and use sprinkles for quick festive decorating!
Step 8
Allow frosting to fully harden. Once the frosting is set, it’s time to give your pup treats for tricks!
Cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
If you do not want to use icing on the cookies, you can serve without decorating!
This is a great recipe to use all year round. Try this recipe with holiday cookies for Santa Paws, birthday cookies for your pups special day, or just an everyday treat!
